In February 2023 we started the herb garden around the centre, by Autumn we now have the beginnings of a medicinal herb garden which we hope to expand over the next few years.

Rosemary, Lavender, Calendula, Hyssop, Agrimony, Goldenrod, Chives, Agastache, German Chamomile, Echinacea purpurea, Feverfew, Solomons seal, lungwort, marshmallow, Inula helenium, Lemonbalm, Fennel, Mugwort, Birch, Eupatorium, Vervain, Centaury, Hypericum, Wormwood, Motherwort and Rose Campion. (Most herbs were grown from seed with a few purchased from a local organic supplier (Caherhurley nursery in Bodyke)

Centaury: is used as both a medicinal herb and a flower essence. It is part of the Bach Flower essences and is used for people who find it difficult to say ‘no’ to others.

Dr. Bachs description

Kind, quiet, gentle people who are over-anxious to serve others. They overtax their strength in their endeavours. Their wish so grows upon them that they become more servants than willing helpers. Their good nature leads them to do more than their own share of work, and in so doing they may neglect their own particular mission in life.

Hypericum perfoliatum: st Johns wort. A very well know remedy for nerve pain and mild depression. It is widely used in both herbal and homeopathic medicine.
