Medicinal Herb Gardens & Nature Trail Development: Summer 2024 Adventures

This summer we spent a lot of time planning the medicinal herb garden & nature trail that we are developing in 2025. We spent the summer with this in mind and visited some amazing places to get some inspiration.

Summer 2024…

Links to some excellent gardens & national parks that we visited Summer 2024:

Ireland

Altamount Garden, Tullow, Co. Carlow = A truly romantic garden and definitely worth a visit if you’re in Carlow

Huntingbrook Garden, Blessington, Co. Wicklow = a divine garden and forest walk, Medicine for the soul

United Kingdom

The Fairy Glen, Conwy, Snowdonia, Wales – A magical little glen, stunning walk and a gorgeous place to hang out for the afternoon

The Cotswolds – too many gardens to mention plus Westonbrit, the national arboretum

Exmoor National Park – stunning temperate rainforest, beautifully managed and loads of gorgeous walks. We found some great walks near Lynmouth.

St. Nectan’s Glen – another temperate rainforest and totally stunning.

The Eden Project – like Disneyland for plant lovers! Excellent medicinal herb displays, sponsored by Pukka. Great range of Ayurvedic herbs in the Rainforest biome and lots of medicinal plants around the cafe and also in the mediterranean biome. Well worth a visit and you can pick up some great plants there too.

Buckfast Abbey– a lovely apothecary garden in the abbey grounds and there’s also a plant shop where you can pick up some medicinal plants

The Botanic Gardens Wales – very large and well maintained apothecary garden and apothecary exhibition. Well worth a visit if you enjoy physic/apothecary gardens.
