Frequently Asked Questions

What is Ayurveda?

Ayurveda, or Traditional Indian Medicine, is considered the oldest healing system known to humanity. The term comes from Sanskrit, where “Ayur” means life and “Veda” means knowledge or science, so Ayurveda translates to “The Science of Life.”

Originating in India over 5,000 years ago, Ayurveda is often called the “Mother of All Healing.” It evolved from the ancient Vedic culture and was traditionally passed down orally from master to disciple for thousands of years. Although portions were later written down, much of the original knowledge remains unrecorded or inaccessible.

Ayurveda emphasizes balance in the body, mind, and spirit through natural methods, including diet, herbal treatments, yoga, meditation, and lifestyle practices. Its holistic approach aims not just to treat illness, but to promote overall wellness and prevent disease.

Many well-known Western natural healing practices, such as Homeopathy and Naturopathy, trace their roots back to Ayurvedic principles. Despite its ancient origins, Ayurveda continues to be a relevant and widely practiced system of health today.
