“Welcome the present moment as if you had invited it. It is all we ever have so we might as well work with it.  We might as well make it our friend and teacher rather than fighting it.”

Pema Choden

(Based on the Mindfulness Based Stress reduction Course (MBSR) developed by Jon Kabat Zinn)

We can spend a lot of our life energy wishing our lives were different , wishing we were somehow different; less stressed , more fit, healthy, more successful. We can be  endlessly striving to get somewhere in order for us to feel happy. What if we were to stop all this effort at self improvement and begin to take time to really notice our life as it enfolds

Mindfulness practices  can begin to train our minds and heart in  ways of being more open, curious and compassionate towards ourselves.Mindfulness can  help us to meet difficulty in the present moment in a gentle way and to uncover and meet the joy in our life. To meet the life force beneath the stress and pain, that is always flowing as long as we are breathing.

About The Mindfulness Course

The 8 week mindfulness course is a practical programme introducing meditation practices in ways that we can integrate into our everyday lives.

This  course is an invitation to practice with a group for two and a half hours each week for 8 weeks, discovering the skills of mindfulness.

We will explore through mindfulness, how we can begin to interact with our thoughts and emotions in a more compassionate and spacious way. Mindfulness practices can help us meet the difficulties in our lives; anxiety, illness, chronic physical pain, emotional pain.  We will learn skills  to gently meet difficulties and stress, by being present and accepting of whatever is arising in the body and the mind.

Home practice is an important part of the programme. To support our training in mindfulness, a commitment to practice at home is strongly encouraged. You will receive handouts and CD’s to support your home practice. There will also be a  full day of mindfulness practice.

Before the course  begins there is an individual orientation meeting with each participant. This helps to give you a greater sense of what the course entails before committing to the 8 week programme.
