Diploma of Ayurvedic Studies

Our Diploma of Ayurvedic studies trains students in the use of Ayurveda as a health care modality. As part of this diploma students will learn 8 Ayurvedic therapies, be able to provide Ayurvedic lifestyle and dietary advice, dispense a range of Ayurvedic herbs and formulations and be qualified to treat clients using Ayurvedic protocol.

As part of this course participants will also implement Ayurvedic self care regimens, learn some meditation and Yoga techniques, study anatomy & physiology from an Ayurvedic perspective, learn about professional conduct and business awareness and complete 200 hours of supervised clinical training.

On completion of this course, participants will be fully equipped to practice as an Ayurvedic Massage therapist & Lifestyle Consultant.

This diploma course is a part time course conducted over 24 months at Satmya Natural Medicine & Learning Centre, Killaloe, Co. Clare

Qualification

Upon successful completion of the course, you will receive a Diploma in Ayurvedic Studies. This will entitle you to successfully apply for indemnity insurance and enable you to practice Ayurvedic therapies and lifestyle consultations to the public.

Class Times

One weekend per month from  10am- 6pm (2nd weekend of every month for 2018 intake)

Registration Fee/Deposit

A registration fee/deposit is required to hold a place on the course. Once the course has commenced registration fees are non refundable.  In the exception of a course not commencing all registration fees will be refunded.

Requirements

Written and verbal fluency in English are a requirement for this course.

Participants must be 21 or over.

Prerequisites

Anatomy and Physiology ITEC Level 3, QQI level 5 or equivalent.

Delivery methods: on site lectures, course notes, handouts, workbooks, practical demonstrations, hands-on learning and supervised clinical practice.

Student Clinic: students must complete 200 hours of student clinic over the 2 years

Examination: There will be continuous assessment throughout the course with monthly quizzes & practical assessment. All units of this course will be examined at the completion of the course with both written and practical examinations.

Duration: 24 Months

Reg/Deposit: € 900 (non refundable)

Total Fee: €2995 per annum (if paid before course begins) or €3450 (if paid in instalments (weekly/monthly))

Doug is the main teacher on the Diploma of Ayurvedic studies.

Doug is an Ayurvedic practitioner & Teacher. He has  been teaching and practicing Ayurveda since 2005. He is passionate about all areas of Ayurveda and really enjoys sharing this knowledge. He studied classical Ayurveda for four years in Australia under Prof. Jason Chandler, a highly respected Vaidyacharya (Ayurvedic Doctor & Teacher). Jason taught him the value in following the sacred teachings of the classical texts & gave him a very rounded Ayurvedic education. Doug hopes to pass this wisdom on to his students.

Guest lecturer – Irish herbs from an Ayurvedic perspective

Yvette is the  Naturopath and co-owner of Satmya. She completed a 4 year full time  Naturopathy degree in ACNT & UNE in Australia.  She also went to India to further her Homeopathy studies and attended a postgraduate course at the Bengal Allen College of Homeopathy, Calcutta. Upon completion of her studies in 2005, she was awarded Naturopathy student of the year by Phytomedicine & ACNT.

Gary O’Toole – Vedic Astrologer & Ayurvedic Lifestyle Counsellor 

Guest lecturer – Vedic astrology

Gary has studied Jyotish (Vedic astrology) for over 20 years. He previously trained in counselling and has studied Ayurveda with the American Institute of Vedic Studies, through which he was granted the title ‘Ayurvedic Lifestyle Counsellor’.

He is a member of the British Association of Vedic Astrology and lectures at their annual conference. He offers Vedic astrology consultations online and in Galway; including astrological remedial measures that are easily incorporated into a busy life. He is the author of Cosmic Bodies: The Ayurvedic Astrology Guide to Health & Well-Being. His website is timelineastrology.com.

Julie Hyde is an RYT 200 hour Hatha Yoga Teacher with YTTC Dublin and holds a Diploma in Restorative Yoga and Sports Yoga. 
Julie’s classes are designed to create space and strength within the body, focus the mind and provide greater vitality.

I am born and schooled in Bangalore. As a part of culture, traditioin and lifestyle, I was introduced to Ayurvedic way of life , Yoga, Meditation right from early childhood. Healthy eating habits, practice of mindfulness were taught at home and school. I practiced regular yoga and meditation as a part of school curriculum and was educated in self fullness, compassion and spiritual growth from the basic age of 5 and feel thankful to our gurus

I did my Bachelor Degree in Ayurvedic Medicine in 1997, which is an intensive training in Government College of Indian Medicine, Bangalore. Im a qualified Ayurvedic Practitioner and Yoga instructor with 21 years of experience in clinical practice of Ayurveda consultation, Therapies, teaching Yoga, meditation, Yoga retreats.

I learnt and believe that health is the balance between mind, body, senses, spirit and soul and it is a constant learning process of keeping our perspective stable and healthy. We need to be mindful of our choices in life and get the best out of everything. Think well, eat well, rest well and know our strengths and problem areas and correct them with the best of the available knowledge. Ayurveda is a complete comprehensive health care, which helps to its fullest when we approach with best intentions

I started at my private clinic in Bangalore and joined the highly esteemed Maharishi Ayurveda group in 2000 and worked at the international clinics at Europe for 2 years. With the new baby arriving in 2002 I had to relocate to Bangalore where I worked in my own clinic till 2006 and then an opportunity opened up at Kinglsey Holistic Ayurvedic Spa,

In 2013 I started to work for myself and established clinics at Cork, Midleton and Limerick. I became founder, owner practitioner and senior therapist of Gita Ayurveda n Physical Therapy and started first at Midleton [no at Market Green shopin gcentre] Cork at Therapy rooms and Limerick at Absolute hotel. I did diloma course in Manipulative therapy from 2012 to 2015
