In this one-day workshop you will learn the ancient secrets of Ayurvedic health maintenance and gain a deeper understanding of your body & mind.

Ayurveda is the ancient system of health care from India. It places great emphasis on self care and teaches simple techniques to live life in a more healthy & balanced way.

This one-day workshop will introduce you to these important principles and teach you how to take care of your body & mind the Ayurvedic way…

You will learn:

  • The fundamentals of Ayurvedic theory
  • The importance of identifying your unique constitutional body type
  • The effect of the environment on health (seasonal change, etc)
  • The use of food as medicine (including simple spices and herbs)
  • Self care rituals for health maintenance including: self massage, oil pulling, tongue scraping, head massage, hair care, weight management, etc
  • How to use meditation & yoga in daily life, including simple postures, mantras and breathing exercises
  • Simple Ayurvedic formulae for health & longevity
  • Ayurvedic home remedies for common ailments

Private groups: +4 participants

Private classes: either at Satmya or at a venue of your choice.

Teacher: Doug Hyde

douggie teachDoug is the Ayurvedic practitioner & co-owner of Satmya. He was first introduced to Ayurveda whilst taking a sports psychology class as part of his biology degree in the University of Denver (DU). At the time Doug was on a swimming scholarship in DU and as an elite swimmer the ancient science of Ayurveda peaked his interest greatly.

Upon retiring from swimming he pursued Ayurveda full time at Ayurveda College, Australia. Under the tutelage of professor Jason Chandler a highly respected Vaidyacharya (Ayurvedic Doctor & Teacher) he studied classical Ayurveda for 4 years. Doug graduated in 2007 and returned home to set up Satmya in Killaloe.

He has a special interest in Ayurveda in Sports, Corporate Wellness and Ayurvedic education. He teaches regularly around the country and at Satmya.

Doug teaches Ayurveda for PractitionersKitchen Medicine, Ayurvedic Seasonal CookingAyurveda Self CareIndian Head Massage  and other classes at Satmya. Doug also runs bi-annual Ayurveda & Yoga retreats in various locations in Ireland
